Spanko Week & SpankoCon ACTUALIZED
We just closed the books on a successful Spanko Week and SpankoCon here in Phoenix, AZ, where Spank University and the Arizona Power Exchange joined forces to bring you the largest spanking conference in the world. This 3rd year was our biggest and best yet. With over 80 people actively involved between attendees, presenters, vendors, kitchen crew and facility support, it was a crazy busy week and weekend.
MONDAY AUGUST 3rd: Spanking Soup to Nuts class @ APEX
We had quite a local crowd for this 2 hour class on everything spanking but the kitchen sink. Standing room only, there had to be 50-60 people at this fun and interactive Monday night class. What a great way to kick off Spanko Week, welcoming new local members and introducing the wide world of spanking to them.
TUESDAY AUGUST 4th: Spanko EDGE on Pervertibles
EDGE's (Extended Growth, Development & Education) are monthly hands on, roundtable discussions around a single topic. I run APEX'es Spanko EDGE on the first Tuesday of every month. This EDGE coincided with Spanko Week, and pervertibles was the chosen topic. Folks were encouraged to bring their favorites, share a story or two and do tastings with it should anyone want to feel it. We had a small but dedicated group attend our Tuesday event, keeping the spanking conversation going.
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5 Spanko version of APEX New Member Orientation
For those attendees who were coming in from out of town, APEX was incredibly cool about offering us a virtual orientation so new members could participate in the Saturday night festivities. Huge thanks to Mark with APEX for facilitating that!
THURSDAY AUGUST 6th Impact Exploratorium: Global Warming
Not sure of the numbers, but I think we had roughly 10 toppy types and 10 bottomy types for the Global Warming activity, which worked out perfectly. Tops picked out their implement and their stamps and bottoms were given Global Passports. It was bottoms job to pick which Tops they wanted to take swats from and get their passports stamped by. Much fun was had by all, and many bottoms got as many stamps as they could fit!
FRIDAY AUGUST 7th SpankoCon Day One
The vendors set up, food was put out, and the Spanko Playlist started. Folks spent about an hour noshing and socializing before people began to break away and the sounds of spanking started coming from the dungeon floor. The Spanko Clip film was going in the background, showcasing select video clips from my repertoire as well as Uncle Eric's. At 8pm, the lively and naughty music is turned up, and the sounds of spanks echoed out over the play space. We left the building slightly before 11pm, excited for the following morning.
SATURDAY AUGUST 8th SpankoCon Day Two
Saturday started bright and early at 830am with bagels and vending. By 9am, I was just starting my Intro to the Spanking Scene class, a 101 level class introducing the concept of a whole, defined spanking culture along with the physical attributes that make a spanking a spanking. This is always a great way to start a day of education and gives a great basis for what will be talked about later on in the day.
Class two was about Wooden Paddles and sadly, our original presenter Spencer from LRS took ill over the weekend, and had to bow out of the fun after Friday night. The good news is that Any of LRS was able to fill in for Spencer and she did a fantastic job representing Spencer's enthusiasm for his subject matter.
An hour long break for a beautiful catered lunch sweet up by the equally beautiful Gloryus and her kitchen crew. Vending happened during lunch hours, and I was delighted to start to see vendor toys in people's hands!
After lunch, Theo with AZTrunk presented a very thorough chat on belts and straps, demonstrating his incredible creations, the Clackers in some very willing vic, er, volunteers. Quite a few pairs of those Clackers for off Theo's vendor table.
On the heels of Theo's class, was Kelsey's class on spanking language and the headspace that words can evoke. She took us through quite a study of the words that many spankos really love to incorporate into their role plays.
Some of us stayed after to practice our strapping and paddling techniques, the presenters stepping in to spend some one on one time with the attendees who wanted to get their hands dirty.
The con closed down at 4pm, allowing the vendors to wrap up and set aside their water for the evening festivities. I didn't attend the Back to School group role play, but I heard it was off the hook fun! I went to the dungeon party until I couldn't stand anymore and headed home around 10pm after a few scenes.
SUNDAY AUGUST 9th SpankoCon Day Three
Tired, but not done by a long shot, I got back to APEX at 830am to get my Role Play presentation all loaded and ready to go. What a lovely discussion for so early in the morning in a Sunday after two nights of parties. I was so impressed!
Second class was Abby making a return but this time talking about Spanking Smut and the history of flagellation literature. Wow, I didn't even know how privileged we are to have any to begin with!
Another lovely catered lunch, more vending of gorgeous and unique toys. We are so blessed in the Phoenix area to have so many fine implement makers right in our backyard!
After lunch, we were treated to two classes on caning. Gloryus taught us about her unique style, Freeform Caning to music. It's such an incredible occasion when I get to watch my good friend teach a killer class, she is a force to be reckoned with. After that, a total change of style and thus the need for two caning classes, was Pet Emily's class An English Schoolgirls Guide to the Cane, which focused more on traditional caning styles and history. I had been waiting for over a year to see Emily's class, I brought her all the way out here from DC for this class, and she did not disappoint. Watching how two cane artists wield their implements was an unmitigated joy, and one I will definitely do again!
We broke at 345pm and for the rest of the time we held hands on time with canes, straps and paddles until we were kicked out at 430pm. What a weekend!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, participated, ran things, helped volunteer and otherwise supported me in my quest to host the largest spanking conference in the world. I think we accomplished the goal. Now, onto next year...
